John Collins – Teichenné cocktail
There are several versions about the origin of the cocktail John Collins. In the United States it is said that it was created by a bartender of his country. contrarily, in the United Kingdom they say that, at the end of century XIX, the cocktail was created by a bartender who worked in a famous bar London.
At that time two classes of Collins coexisted: the Tom Collins, made with gin, and the John Collins made with dry gin. Later, more Collins cocktails were made from different styles of whiskey and other spirits.
Our collaborator Raul Fernandez of Sagartoki Raul makes the classic John Collins with our award-winning gin, Level Gin Premium, with a touch of fresh rosemary.
- 5cl Level Gin Premium
- 2,5cl squeezed lemon
- 1,5cl simple syrup
- Dash of Angostura
- Top of soda
Preparation of John Collins: Mix the gin, lemon and syrup in a shaker with ice. We shake hard. Pour the mixture into a long glass with a simple strainer (a glass that we have previously cooled) with three ice cubes. We add soda carefully (so as not to break the bubble) to the top of the glass.
Garnish: Finally we decorate with a branch of rosemary, that will help that the bubbles flow upwards.
